About Masut Winery

My brother Ben and I established the Masút winery in 2009. Our father, Bobby Fetzer, one of Mendocino County’s most experienced grape growers, bought the Masút Ranch in 1994. Intrigued with a hillside site of fast draining soil, desirable sun exposure and marine influenced winds, he chose Pinot Noir for this special location.

We do it all ourselves here, from the harvest, to the crush, to the fermentation, to the bottling, the drinking and the storytelling. Our father planted the first vines here. We are dedicated to making sure they flourish. The culture, the process and the land of Masút are within every bottle.

THE CULTURE, THE PROCESS AND THE LAND OF MASÚT ARE WITHIN EVERY BOTTLE

We harvest each block separately at night so that we can deliver cool fruit to the winery as the sun rises.

When the fruit arrives from the vineyard, every bunch is hand sorted for quality. The fermentation lasts for three weeks in small open-top stainless tanks before the wine begins aging in French oak barrels for up to 16 months.
